Samsung G800 Vs. Samsung G600 - 5 Megapixel Camera Phones

High specification camera phones are now a common offering in the UK mobile phones market, it was only months ago that the first model was released that heralded a new era in mobile photography as mobile phones were now able to offer similar specification camera lenses as those of standalone digital cameras.

The idea behind this new breed of cameraphones is to tempt a user to leave the house with only one gadget rather than three or four, the mobile phone manufacturers are adding more features to their latest models such as satellite navigation, advanced mp3 players and email services in a bid to encompass all that is needed when out and about.

The first high specification camera phone was the Nokia N95 offering a 5.0 megapixel camera, mp3 player, satellite navigation and a whole host of connection options for internet browsing and email collection. This clever little device has set a president for future models and has already been upgraded with the release of the Nokia N95 8GB version which has a larger memory for file storage and longer battery life to deal with the range of features.

Next came the Samsung G600, and this is the one we are interested in, although other models from other manufacturers such as the Sony Ericsson K850i and LG Viewty KU990 have been released it is the G600 samsung that has already been upgraded to the new Samsung G800.

Similar although slightly different in appearance the G800 takes on a more squarer design with some chrome accents for the navigational keys and offers enhanced photographic features such as a new lens cover manufactured from faux leather to protect the lens when not in use.

Other new technology includes the addition of 3x optical zoom and a 5.8 to 17.4mm autofocus range, a far superior version of the zoom function available in the G600 model, it does not lose focus and provides extra quality for close up picture capture. The G800 has also had its flash upgraded to a Xenon light, this makes low light condition photographic far clearer and brighter.

This extra technology has added some 30g of weight to the handset and a little extra depth and width but the overall length of the phone has stayed the same.

Successor to the Samsung G600, the Samsung G800 can not just take the perfect picture but can record video clips and provide the user with a personal entertainment system with its onboard Media Player.

Offering bluetooth wireless with A2DP stereo support and USB connectivity, the user can listen to MP3 tracks through bluetooth headphones and synchronise files with a PC.

Users can download music and create playlists, browse online content, access emails and view attachments with the document viewer, the Samsung G800 offers a user friendly interface that is easy to navigate plus there is a dedicated one touch option to the handsets camera feature for quick picture capture.

The 2.3 inch 240 x 320 pixel screen display is slightly larger than that of the G600 and makes text easier to read and images finer with greater clarity displayed in 256,000 colours whilst the 60MB of internal memory can be expanded with the microSD card slot.

The Samsung G800 is a big improvement on what is still a high specification handset making the new model a showcase for the new technology that the manufacturer has developed.

Samsung DLP 750 - Enjoy Virtual Cinema Quality in Your Own Home

Want to enjoy the big screen effect in the comfort of your own home? Want that Hollywood atmosphere? Small TV sets just don’t hack it. The Samsung HL61A750 sports a massive 61-inch screen (there is also a 67-inch version) that, contrary to expectations, does not take up much room.

Yes - with the new generation of large screen TVs like the Samsung DLP 750 - or, to give it its full name, the Samsung DLP RP HL61A750 - you can enjoy a picture of almost cinema screen quality, enabling you to enjoy sports and movies to the fullest. And with LEDs, claimed to last 20,000 hours (that’s nine whole years at six hours a day - effectively the life of the set), there are no expensive bulbs to replace.

It doesn’t stop there - the CinemaPure Color Engine creates colors ca 40% brighter and more realistic than with traditional HDTV sets.

And there is no warm-up time, another advantage of LEDs over bulbs - the set is virtually instantly ready to display great pictures on start-up.

No spinning color wheel is used, making the DLP 750 quieter than most other TVs (the spinning color wheel can sometimes cause a high-pitched whine.) This also reduces the likelihood of seeing rainbow effects - the LEDs cycle much faster than color wheels ever could.

Another advantage of LED technology over projector bulbs is a much lower power consumption, which should make this TV set appeal to the environmentally aware viewer.

The Samsung DLP 750 is quite flexible when it comes to adjusting the picture settings. So flexible, in fact, that some people may be confused by the options. One thing to bear in mind - when you first set up the TV, or see it in a store, it defaults to Dynamic mode, which doesn’t show the set in its best light - so don’t be put off by this. A few tweaks to the contrast, brightness, color and tint settings will bring the picture to life.

Samsung F210 Purple Is The Latest Addition To The F210 Stick Range

The mobile industry is an extremely competitive environment where the smallest of incentives could effect massively on turnover and recognition, as retailers and networks constantly drive to negotiate new and exclusive handset deals with the manufacturers we are starting to see new and innovative promotional ideas with entrance of big fashion brand names and now celebrity endorsements.

The latest deal to be struck is between Phones4U and Samsung but with a twist as there is also a celebrity endorsement from Girls Aloud.

This new venture is all to promote the exclusive Samsung F210 in Purple which Phones4U have negotiated with Samsung to be the exclusive sales channel.

The involvement from Girls Aloud means that the handset will be preloaded with lots of the bands content including ringtones such as their latest single, ‘Sexy, No No No!’, there are also a range of screensavers featuring the band members and other themes to personalise the phone.

The Samsung F210 follows on from where the popular X830 left off and is part of the ‘Stick’ range of music orientated handsets that are designed to be worn around the neck like an MP3 player.

The focus of the handset is high on music and the exterior features a disc navigation button similar to that found on the leading stand alone MP3 Players, to activate the handset the user simply swivels the phone in half to 180 degrees to reveal the unique keypad first seen in the X830 with two rows of buttons rather than the industry standard three.

The Samsung X830 was released in five different colour variants and it seems as though the F210 will follow suit with this new addition in purple and further colours planned with black, white and pink.

The F210 features an upgraded camera to 2.0 megapixels with a flash for poor light conditions and night time photography and zoom function for close up picture capture, the camera also supports video record and playback.

There is a substantial 1Gb of internal memory for storing photographs, video clips, music tracks and downloaded files which can be expanded using MicroSD cards.

The integrated Mp3 player can be filled with new music tracks and albums by either connected to a PC with the supplied cable or downloaded direct from the mobile internet, the player also allows for playlist creation so the user can listen to tracks stored under genre or to suit their mood.

The F210 also features Bluetooth technology for wireless connections to compatible devices such as hands free car kits for safe conversation whilst driving, and other bluetooth enabled mobile phones for quick, wireless file transfer to share music, photos, video clips and content.

The Samsung F210 is an extremely small handset for the amount of features on offer, measuring just 87.7 x 30.9 x 20.4 mm and weighing only 76g, the handset comes with a lanyard so that it can be worn around the neck of the user comfortably.

The collaboration between a celebrity pop band, a high street mobile retailer and a large manufacturer make for an exciting product in the Samsung F210 Purple, a compact, fashionable and stylish handset that packs in some of today’s best mobile technology.

Samsung’s Touch of Color LCD Flat Screen TV

Have you ever heard of the Touch of Color LCD TV? Is it just a promotion, a new invention, a trend-setting technique or just a smart advertisement? It could probably a combination of all of these.

Manufacturers are now challenged on how they can increase their sales on LCD TVs. LCD TVs has become very popular in the market, many brands are popping up and the competition is on the rise. Samsung has come up with a solution to win the battle for LCD TV market share - the Touch of Color LCD flat screen TVs.

Samsung has indeed made a big success with their Touch of Color LCD flat screen TV. The design and features is a big hit to consumers. Touch of Color LCD Television has an artistic design blending a bit of amber color to their piano black bezels which made it appear flat, slim and stylish. Because of the popularity of this television, it implies that consumers are also concern that their television should look attractive even when it is not turned on. They would love their television to be a piece of art that is in harmony with any décor. It is expected then, that other manufacturers would follow the trend set by Samsung and they would come up with their own classy and distinctive designs in the future.

So what exactly is Touch of Color? It is basically a design feature for to the external part of the television. It is just like any other TV which you would not appreciate it will not operate well when turned on. But of course, Samsung would not fail on this area either. The only difference is the unique and stylish appearance.

To provide an ultimate high quality picture, Samsung’s Touch of Color LCD TV provides full 1080p resolution. It creates the most perfect picture that you can imagine which is the real essence of high definition TVs. This is far better compared to conventional television.

Samsung offers this technology called Auto Motion Plus. With this technology, Samsung can offer a response time of 4ms and a frame rate of 120hz because it doubles the frame rate from 60 hz to 120 hz. The television can have a precise transition between the frames. Compare to the early versions of LCD TVs, Samsung’s Touch of Color TVs is capable of handling motions very well. This makes it great for shows with actions in fast moving state like Sports and Action movies.

Another feature of the Touch of Color TV is the contrast ratio of 50,000:1 which is considered to be a great improvement compared to the last year’s model with 25:000:1 contrast ratio. Contrast ratio is a very important feature of television, it measures the capability of the TV to generate dark blacks and bright whites. That means, if the contrast ration is higher, it will aid in avoiding dull or pale images which is reflected on televisions with lower contrast ratio.

Another great feature of their latest model this year is the InfoLink. It allows access to various free feeds like RSS news, sports, stocks and weather via its integrated Ethernet port.

Although, Samsung’s Touch of Color is not really a new invention, we could say that it has attracted most consumers and it could start a trend of having a television set which at the same time can be considered an artistic décor in one’s room even when it is not turned on. Samsung’s Touch of Color LCD flat screen TV gives a real value to your money with all its amazing features — high definition images, attractive and stylish design.

Security Cameras and "Photo Finish" - Who Got to the Finish Line First?

Horse Races and the 2008 Olympics

Hall of Famer jockey Russel Blaze wired his 10,000th race with a photo finish. In hotly contested races, a photo finish is the be all and end all. Without it, there would be endless protests, which would blur the thrill of winning the race. What if the photographer is caught up with the race and forgets to prep his camera? Not to worry, superior security cameras can do the job as long as it is propped in the right place.

In a horse race, a hair’s breadth difference between the first and second placer cannot be detected by the human eye especially if two horses break through the finish line at the same time. To determine the winner, a photo finish provides the clue because it shows that millimeter difference between the winner and loser. The truth is in the photo finish or in the recording of security cameras that are strategically placed to catch the moment.

If you wonder how security cameras do the job, it is just a matter of the cameras constantly recording all the movements. Freeze framing the sets of recordings by the second will show the how the race was won.

In the 2008 Olympics,TV and security electronic cameras where placed everywhere to record all details. American swim hero, Michael Phelps won the 4×100 swim relay when electronic devices proved he touched the underwater wall first, allowing him to get his seventh gold medal, after clocking 50.58 seconds. That ended all arguments although disenchanted rivals howled. Coming in second was Serbian swimmer Cavic who clocked 50.59 seconds.

How a Photo Finish Saves the Day

In the Tour de France when all cyclists speed to the finish line, it is impossible to tell who is the winner. A photo finish from a sophisticated electronic device does away with the guesswork and saves the day. Digital software takes 2,000 pictures in a second. Imagine that! This would have been impossible in your great-grandfather’s time when they relied on the standby photographer to click the shutters.

These days, a photo finish can be captured by security cameras working with video transmitters that sends pictures or images to the monitors hooked up to the security system. These cameras can go wireless and can be hidden in the most unlikely places but still works superbly to capture and record movement.

Since these can be remotely operated, the trouble of trying to catch the precise moment at the finish line is a thing of the past. Results are immediately known and the frames per second can be viewed later for confirmation before fistfights can erupt. Or a slow motion replay can resolve the issue of who got to the finish line first.

Beyond Protection and Line of Defense

Security cameras have been initially viewed as protection against robberies and pilfering in the home and in the workplace. But as these cameras are getting better than ever, and becoming versatile, other uses were discovered for it. It takes some creativity to come up with more uses for these cameras, don’t you agree?

Samsung L200 Review

In the market for digital cameras there are so many options, some packed full of features that really only the most discerning, photography-inclined customers would ever use. An average person shopping for a digital camera today might not even fully know what the digital camera that he or she ends up purchasing is truly capable of.

One of the areas in which customers often to know what they want is size. Gone are the days when it was perfectly acceptable to carry around a brick-like camera, unless of course it is for professional photography reasons. Today, most casual users have adopted a smaller-is-better attitude, mostly because of the convenience of carrying around a slim and pocket-able camera. In this regard, the Samsung l200 makes for a decent buy, as it measures only 3.5×0.8×2.2 inches, and weights a meagre 4 oz.

Another aspect of a camera that is often looked at is the image quality, which most would know now to be measured in megapixels. Unlike size, this time bigger is better, and as the Samsung l200 has a grand 10.2 megapixel resolution it certainly is no slouch. More resolution means greater detail, and with 10.2 megapixels worth, the end product is practically guaranteed to satisfy most tastes.

At this juncture, things can get slightly hazier, as, for casual snap photographers there really isn’t much else to consider. However, the Samsung l200 packs a godsend of a feature that will appeal to both casual and serious photographers alike, namely its optical stabilisation technology. By merit of this technology, blurry images can be avoided almost entirely, making it absolutely crucial for any handheld camera user, especially when using any sort of zoom function where even the slightest movement can make a difference.

Other aspects bound to come in handy include the various preset ’shooting programmes’ that can be adjusted according to preference in order to make for higher quality photographs in certain situations. For example, some of the included presets are a night scene, landscape, fireworks, beach or snow, and close-up mode. Granted, none of these will ever match the skills of a professional photographer that can actually adjust at will, however it is a nice starting point and does provide better images.

Wrapping up the entire package are a number of miscellaneous additional, including the much famed face detection that can ‘lock on’ to faces and focus on them to give greater clarity in any picture. Also some functions that allow for minor editing of an image including sharpness control, contrast control, saturation control, resizing, as well as digital image rotation are all included.

In short, for any casual photographer that wants a compact, light camera that can be carried practically anywhere in the comfort of a pocket or handbag while still retaining various features that help produce good quality pictures, then the Samsung l200 is a great buy. For those thinking that one of the better mobile phone deals that offer a great inbuilt camera would suffice, think again, as yet, even the top-end mobile phone cameras cannot match a good, solid, digital camera.

Plasma HDTV - What About Burn-In?

If you’ve been researching HDTVs, you’ve heard about a nasty little problem, unique to plasma and CRT sets, called burn-in. That’s when your $4000 plasma screen gets imprinted with the ghostly image of a TV channel’s logo or the outline of a letterbox because certain parts of the screen have aged faster than the rest. But if it’s such a big deal, why do people keep buying expensive plasma HDTVs? Is burn-in really worth worrying about?

Burn-In Susceptibility in Modern Plasma HDTVs

The HDTV industry is very competitive these days, and plasma manufacturers are really starting to feel competition from the LCD industry. So, you can bet they’re doing everything they can to eliminate burn-in. Screen technology has improved to the point where proper use of the TV (starting with a detailed break-in process) will not cause a problem, but careless use just might. And many of the new plasma HDTVs, like the Samsung HPT5064, have a “screen burn protection mode” built into the TV to repair mild damage.

Image Retention vs. Burn-In

Image retention is a common effect that you might have seen after turning off a CRT television at night: the last image to appear on the screen stays there for a while after the TV is off, then fades away slowly. This is caused by a charge build-up in the phosphors (the glowing picture elements in the screen), and will go away after the display has been powered off for a little while.

Burn-in, on the other hand, is permanent. Since it is caused by uneven aging of the screen phosphors, the “burned” image will persist forever, like a tattoo. It can be caused by spending a lot of time watching stuff in a 4:3 (non-widescreen) aspect ratio, watching a news channel with a stationary “news ticker”, or playing a game with stationary screen elements. Just as a tattoo can be removed with a great deal of effort, there are ways to fix a burned-in screen. But an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure: follow a break-in procedure when the set is new.

The Break-In Procedure

If you would rather be safe than sorry, you’ll need to go through a break-in process when the TV is new. In 2004, Panasonic commissioned a detailed look into the problem and came up with some guidelines for new plasma owners:

In the first hundred hours:

Make sure the display is in a viewing mode (aspect ratio) that completely
fills the screen (there are often three or more settings from which to choose). The panel is shipped in this condition, in what is called the “Just” mode.

Turn down the contrast to 50% or less.

Briefly engage the 4:3 mode to confirm that the side bars are set to mid-gray to minimize the chance of burn-in.

Return the set to a “full screen” (Just, Zoom, Full) position during the first hundred hours of use.

During the first hundred hours of use, don’t view the same channel for extended periods. This should prevent channel logos and other fixed images from being retained.

Avoid any static images (video games, computer images, DVD title screens, etc.) during the hundred-hour break-in.

After the hundred hour break-in period, during the next nine hundred hours:

Continue to retain the contrast setting at 50% or less.

Limit the use of 4:3 aspect ratio mode to 15% of viewing time.

Limit the use of static images (computer, video games, etc.) to less than 10% of viewing time.

After one thousand viewing hours, panels are much less likely to experience image burn-in.

The Bottom Line

HDTV experts agree now that burn-in is an overstated problem. Complaints now come from a much smaller percentage of owners than they used to. Buying a late model plasma HDTV, using a break-in procedure, and avoiding certain viewing habits should reduce the chance of damage to just about zero.

The 40" Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 Is An Excellent LCD HDTV

The 40″ Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 is an awesome LCD HDTV displaying 16:9 1080p at 1920×1080 resolution. Sony has hit the mark with the Bravia KDL-40V2500 especially with the lowered price to compete with other LCD HDTV companies like Samsung, Sharp, Panasonic, and Toshiba. The quality is top notch. The colors and contrast are near perfect and pictures even appear to jump out of this LCD HDTV more than other LCD TV’s when compared side by side.

Watching non HD content is not a problem with the Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500. Even playing regular DVD’s look almost HD with an upscaling or upconverting dvd player like the OPPO DV-980H or Sony’s own DVP-NS77H. I heard you can use the remote from Sony’s dvd player to operate the V2500 series. SD (or standard display) is also good and better than other LCD TV’s and almost to the level of your old CRT tube tv set.

The remote control is not bad, but there have been some dissatisfaction with it from some owners saying that it feals cheap or clunky. You’ll probably end up getting a universal remote anyway if you don’t like the factory TV remote. Any negative thoughts caused by the remote are easily made up for with the excellent and simple menu. Going through the Bravia 40V2500’s settings is a breeze. One great feature of this LCD HDTV that you should enjoy is the ability to label the inputs and skip the unused inputs. This should be included with every TV set.

There have been some reports on fogginess in dark scenes, but not many owners have seen it. Maybe messing around with the display or lowering the brightness will help if you see this in your own TV set. Also, if you see a white line above the screen, just raise the vertical display a little bit to make it disappear. You can also change the display area from “full pixel” to normal and that will get rid of the white line.

The Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 LCD HDTV comes with two hdmi inputs. If you’re buying hdmi cables, you don’t need to get the expensive ones. You can buy hdmi cables for under $15-$20 and they work just as good as the ones that cost an arm and a leg. If you plan to buy the warranty for the Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 LCD HDTV, you can get it cheaper straight from Sony instead of from Amazon.

Overall, the 40″ Sony Bravia KDL-40V2500 LCD HDTV is an awesome television with stunning visuals that will drop jaws like when people went from b&w to color TV’s. The refresh rate is not extremely fast as is expected from an LCD TV, but it shouldn’t be a big impact on the viewing experience. The sound is as good as any LCD HDTV on the market if not better. I didn’t cover the sound much, but it is definitely not weak and may surprise you with how good it sounds. Sony has put together a complete package in the Bravia KDL-40V2500 with great visuals and audio to deliver an immersive experience to the viewer. This LCD HDTV may be the best bang you can get for your buck.
